HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW BLACKTOP PAVEMENT
You should not drive on the pavement for the first 48 hours. The blacktop needs to harden untouched.
Never turn the wheels of your vehicle without moving the vehicle. This may cause tearing of the pavement and loosens the blacktop.
If you experience a spill, wash it off as soon as possible with a cleaner/degreaser and rinse thoroughly. Gas and oil will erode the blacktop and cause holes or soft spots.
To avoid damage from spills, one month after paving, you may apply a pavement sealer. This will give protection from spills as well as the weather itself. After two coats have been applied, you can be care free for approximately two years or more, reapplying only one coat at a time thereafter as needed.
To allow for proper drainage, water should run off unimpeded by lawns etc..
Driving over the edge of the pavement may cause cracking.
